To You Who Spread the Truth
If you harbor the Truth of the Buddha in your heart for even a fleeting moment, all the Buddhas of the entire universe will look upon you with great joy. Therefore, do not be afraid. That difficult step you take toward the Truth is already the greatest light illuminating the world.
To cherish this Truth and spread it to the world is the most difficult yet most noble task.
The one who spreads the Truth is my messenger, and shall become the "Eyes of the World," acting on my behalf.
Harder than seizing all the world's wealth and fame in a single breath, and harder than walking through raging flames without a single wound,
Is the task of conveying this Truth to even a single person in this chaotic world.
O Spreader of Truth, Keep This in Mind:
Treat all living beings with compassion.
Endure any criticism or trials with patience.
Understand the principle of Emptiness correctly, and dwell upon the wisdom of the Emptiness of all phenomena.
O Spreader of Truth, Remember This Promise:
When you are at your loneliest and most exhausted, I will be your light, and all the Buddhas of the universe will protect you.
You are never alone.
On the path that you walk, I will always be there with you.
법화경(묘법연화경) : 11. 견보탑품(見寶塔品)
진리를 전하는 그대에게
그대가 부처의 진리를 잠시라도 가슴에 품는다면,
온 우주의 부처님들이 그대를 보며 크게 기뻐할 것이다.
그러니 두려워하지 마라.
그대가 진리를 향해 내딛는 그 어려운 한 걸음이
이미 세상을 밝히는 가장 위대한 빛이다.
이 진리를 간직하고 세상에 전하는 것은 가장 어렵고도 고귀한 일이다.
진리를 전하는 자는 곧 나의 사자이며,
나의 일을 대신하는 '세상의 눈'이 될 것이다.
세상의 모든 부와 명예를 단숨에 거머쥐는 것보다 어렵고,
타오르는 불길 속에서 상처 하나 입지 않는 것보다 어려운 일은
혼란한 세상에서 이 진리를 단 한 사람에게라도 전하는 일이다.
진리를 전하는 자여, 이것을 명심하라.
모든 생명을 자비롭게 대하라.
어떤 비난이나 시련도 인내하라.
공의 이치를 바르게 알고 , 법공의 지혜 위에 머물러라.
진리를 전하는 자여, 이 약속을 기억하라.
그대가 가장 외롭고 힘들 때
내가 그대의 빛이 될 것이며
온 우주의 부처님들이 그대를 지켜줄 것이다.
그대는 절대 혼자가 아니다.
그대가 걷는 그 길 위에
그대와 항상 함께하고 있을 것이다.
