용수보살은 말하기를 연기는 空性이라 설파하였다.

연기란 서로 의지해 존재하는 듯하지만

궁극적으로 텅 빈 공이라 하였으니,

공과 존재(色)를 넘어서는 자리는 어떤 것인가?

 

 

English

The mind is like open space

it cannot be buried in the earth,

nor can it be soaked by water.

It cannot be burned by fire,

nor scattered away by the wind.

 

Is the mind alive?

Is it dead? Or

does it exist?

Does it not exist?

 

Nāgārjuna taught that dependent arising is emptiness.

Though things appear to exist through mutual dependence,

ultimately they are empty in nature.

Then what is the realm

that transcends both emptiness and existence (form)?
